To The Distinguished Members of Australian Media,

Shocking new evidence has emerged of sexual abuse, killings, shortage of food inside Sri Lankan Camps. Nick Paton Walsh reports for Channel 4 (www.channel4.com) with exclusive videos (http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/politics/international_politics/gr...).

The report by UK's Channel 4 is an excellent example of investigative journalism, and sends a much needed warning signal to the war criminals in Sri Lanka - The report acts as a voice against their war crimes.

Meanwhile, Sydney Morning Herald published an extremely one sided article titled 'Kill or be killed: 11-year-olds forced to fight for Tamil Tigers' quoting and relying on information from Defence sources in Sri Lanka.

Under what duress the children gave these interviews is a question journalist Matt Wade has failed to look at especially given the absence of international media in the conflict zone, the intimidation, harassment and killings of local journalists and the appalling track record of massacres, torture and other grave human rights violations by the Sri Lankan Military.

While more than 7000 civilians had been killed and more than 130000 wounded in the last 90 days and while "liberated civilians" continue to languish in camps under horrible conditions as the above Channel 4 news clip demonstrates, Sydney Morning Herald having failed to report on the human suffering presents a story solely quoting sources from a regime that is being accused of grave human rights violations by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the United Nations.

Sydney Morning Herald's one sided story of "child soldiers" without any verification from independent, international reporters, and without mentioning the THOUSANDS of children who have been killed due to indiscriminate shell attacks, bombardments and usage of banned weapons, is bad journalism - nothing less, nothing more.

Yours truly,
